Positive Attitude

The main thing most people do not realize is that the human mind does not process negative thoughts.  Parents believe that telling their children NOT to do something will work, but in essence, the do exactly what they are told NOT to do.  If you understand this, when you tell anyone NOT to be nervous, they will do what you tell them. "BE NERVOUS"  NOT isn’t processed, and the result is a command to be nervous.  They will do exactly that!  Think of any command, and it works the same way.  You are in the mall with the children, and what do you tell them?  "DON’T RUN".  What do the children do?  They run, because you told them to do so.  The command "don’t run" becomes the command "RUN".  You see, they DO listen.

A hypnotist is a person that is trained in the way the human mind accepts thoughts.  This is why people go to a hypnotist.  If one knew all the ways that they could think properly, they could hypnotize themselves.  That is where I am going with this website.  I want people to understand how to hypnotize themselves.  The results would be limitless, and the benefits are huge.  The other benefit is that people will learn how to phrase things in ways that are not confrontational, and people will accept what you say much better.

You see, when you use language that puts people on alert, it could cause them to reject what you are saying, and at times they don’t hear anything after a certain point.  What you have to say may be good, and the result of hearing it may be beneficial, however; when said the wrong way, it could fall on "deaf ears".  So let us embark on a journey together to proper thinking, and beneficial listening.

I hope I don’t lose anyone on this page.  If you become confused, please let me know, and I will try to clarify what I am saying.

Always begin a conversation with a positive compliment.  People love to be complimented, and it sets them in a mood to listen to more of what you are saying.  Be certain that you don’t follow up with something negative, or you will lose your audience, even if only an audience of one.  The most negative statement can always be phrased in a positive light, no matter what it is.   Basically, I want to tell an employee that they are fired.  This is ALWAYS negative.  No-one wants to hear these words. Please examine the following paragraph:

"Joshua, <employee name>, you know that I value the work you do for this company.  You have always shown that you are interested in what this company does, and I really appreciate that!  I know that you want what is best for the company, as do I.
In the past year, things have really been tough for us, and we have lost a lot of business.  Our company mission is to never lose anyone that performs a valuable service.  When you offered your services to us originally, we were in a much better position, and could take advantage of your expertise.   In spite of that, if we are not earning what we need to, then some adjustments need to be made. I find myself in a position right now that I have to make some of those adjustments.  If you were in my position, what actions do you think you would have to take? "

Listen intently to what they are saying.  In most cases, the employee will understand exactly what you are telling them, and will usually know where this is going to lead, but they may really have a good point.  If you must let the person go, then offer your support in assisting them to find another job, or in additional training to make this work for them.  Remember that a positive spin on things will lessen the effect of a bad action.

Note that not once did I say anything negative in the about paragraph.  Realize that we are all in life’s journey together, and if you always do what you can to help others, it will pay huge dividends for you down the road also.

The key here is to always always always phrase things in a positive light.  This may require some serious thought initially, but it becomes second nature after you adapt to it.  Always phrase what you want, not what you want to avoid.  Point!

"I want to stop smoking…" / This phrase has a devastating effect.  It sets the subconcious on alert, because it may not be something that is desireable to do, and it basically says that we need to make some change, which is not something the human mind is good at.  How about phrasing this statement in a positive light, highlighting what we really want…

"I want to breathe clear air, healthy air, and feel the benefits of my lungs working perfectly, without any effort or obstruction."  This is completely positive, and says what we want.  Yes, in order to do so, we will need to stop smoking.  But does it not sound much better?  The mind can’t possibly object to this, because it is for the well being of our person. The human mind is always about self-preservation, and will always accept things that will benefit you.

Wording is extremely important.  You can learn how to phrase things positively, and maximize your hypnosis sessions so that you benefit.  Read materials that promote and teach you how to speak positively, and phrase things better.  Even a book on hypnosis will help you to do this.  I will let you do your own research, and I highly recommend you think about "HOW" you word your statements.  What do you want?

In the mall, instead of "Don’t Run", how about "Walk with me, so we don’t miss seeing the stores we want to visit.  I need you to help me in case I don’t see them."  You have asked them to do what you want, and elicited their assistance to occupy their minds.  Good job all around.  They will not run.
